After meeting your annual deductible, you pay a cost-share for covered out-of-network care. Once your family reaches its annual catastrophic cap, TRICARE pays the remaining covered costs for the rest of the calendar year. The deductible and catastrophic cap are different amounts.

FOR TRICARE PRIME PATIENTS
Healix advocates for patients who are struggling to get timely care. We’ll help you work with your PCM, referral management, and Humana Military to request a TRICARE-authorized non-network provider when network care cannot meet access standards—including a request for Healix.
TRICARE network access limitsYou should not have to accept specialty care beyond these network wait or travel limits. If the options offered exceed them, contact Healix for help requesting an alternative. These limits are not Healix wait times.
A wait beyond 28 days exceeds TRICARE’s specialty appointment standard. When a referral is required, the clock starts on its approval date. Healix can help you request an authorized non-network provider so you can seek care sooner.
The specialty-care driving standard is 60 minutes from home. Tell referral management if the available provider is farther away.
The access standards exclude TRICARE For Life; driving limits exclude active duty service members. Read TRICARE’s access standards.
An out-of-network referral must be approved before care; requesting Healix does not itself authorize visits. TRICARE East referral and authorization guidance.
Healix has helped patients through the following steps. Your PCM and referral management team will confirm what your request needs.
Ask your PCM to document your request for Healix in your visit note. If you already received a referral and are facing a delay, explain the wait. If the offered appointment falls beyond the 28-day specialty standard, provide the referral approval date and the earliest appointment offered.
Ask referral management to send your request for out-of-network care to Humana Military. Include the wait time or travel barrier and the documented request for Healix.
We can help you navigate the request. Once your referral is received and verified, we’ll contact you promptly to schedule your evaluation and treatment.
Already evaluated but unable to schedule regular treatment? Tell your PCM how the gaps affect your recommended care plan. The 28-day specialty appointment standard is not a rule for the interval between every PT session.
